A hallmark of the series, the pair features elements of other Kobe releases in a single body.
[Update 7 Aug 2024] A celebration of the late Black Mamba’s illustrious career, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro “What The Kobe” has been scheduled to arrive sometime in April 2025. They’ll be available through Nike SNKRS and select retailers with an RPR of US$190. Stay tuned for a firm release date and official images in the coming weeks!
Next year will see the return of the fan-favorite Nike Kobe 8 Protro “What The Kobe”. Originally released in 2013, the pair garnered a cult following for its audacious design philosophy.
The “What The” series is known for its flamboyant mashup aesthetic, merging elements from various releases within a single shoe. The Kobe 8 Protro iteration embodies this concept perfectly, featuring a vibrant patchwork of colors, graphics, and textures.
Other equally polychromatic iterations in the series include the “What the SoleFly” Nike Air Jordan 1 Low OG, “What The CLOT” CLOT x Nike Dunk Low SP, as well as the “What The Lobster” Concepts x Nike SB—just to name a few.
Details of the Nike Kobe 8 Protro “What The Kobe” remain scant for now. But stay tuned for more in the coming months leading up to its Summer 2025 release.
