One of the six Tobiroppo of the Beasts Pirates, Black Maria wasn’t given much of a spotlight in the One Piece manga outside several combat sequences. However, due to several factors, her card from newly-released ONE PIECE Card Game set Two Legends [OP-08] has become one of the set’s most valuable.

For one thing, this card comes with an impressive rarity of Super Rare Parallel (SR-P). Its Parallel Art illustration depicts Black Maria surrounded by webs that she generated herself via the powers of her Spider-Spider Fruit, Model: Rosamygale Grauvogeli. Though she’s able to use her Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit to transform into the prehistoric spider it’s named after, this form isn’t shown on this card—and that actually elevates the card’s value.

This is because not only does this card get the advantage of the usual “female character value boost”; Black Maria herself is practically the embodiment of the stereotypical image of the femme fatale. This element is further brought out by her links to the black widow spider—a classic emblem of that character archetype. Finally, her character arc and the “establishment” she owns drive up her sex appeal to a sizeable contingent of fans.
