Kyrie Irving started the Western Conference Finals with an All-Star worthy performance, leading the Dallas Mavericks to a 108–105 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 on Wednesday, 22 May 2024. Irving notched 30 points in the contest, but also garnered attention for debuting a new colorway of his signature ANTA KAI 1, the “Chief Hélà”.

“Hélà” is Irving’s Lakota name, which translates to “Little Mountain”, bestowed upon him by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe during a ceremonial naming in 2018.

The titular pair features a rich brown upper with intricate fringe detailing at the back, offering a distinctive aesthetic beyond its on-court functionality. This design choice is seen as a tribute to Irving’s background, integrating his personal story into the shoe. Luxurious gold accents complete the look, sitting atop a durable rubber outsole.

Not much is known about the ANTA KAI 1 “Chief Hélà” beyond what’s discernible from the images. Nonetheless, they are expected to arrive sometime in the summer with an RRP of US$125, so stay tuned!
