New Balance and DTLR are no strangers to collaborations with each other. Previous joint-efforts span silhouettes such as the 9060 in “Cyan Burst” and “Fire Sign”, the 990v4 in “Festive” and “Wild Style 2.0”, the 990v3 in “GR3YSCALE”, and the 2002R in “Lovers Only”. This time, they’re back again with another iteration of the 2002R in “Purple Noir”.

The DTLR-exclusive pair boasts a sophisticated blend of materials and colors. Luxurious Black suede and soft Grey nubuck combine with a durable Grey mesh base for a visually interesting and sturdy construction.

But what stands out the most are the Purple Noir accents, reminiscent of the iconic “Eggplant” colorway seen on Nike sneakers like the LeBron 4 “Eggplant”. These iridescent purple highlights grace the tongue, midfoot, and heel overlay, lending the shoe its moniker.

Neon green accents, lining the tongue, vamp, and the “2002R” branding on the side, add another layer of boldness. The design is finished off with a clean white foam midsole featuring neon green near the heel and a contrasting Grey rubber outsole for durability and traction.

The New Balance 2002R “Purple Noir” drops exclusively at DTLR brick-and-click stores on 17 May 2024. It will be available in adult sizing for US$165, grade school sizing for US$105, and preschool sizing for US$95. Keep it locked to SNKRDUNK Magazine for further updates as they stream in.
