TROPHY ROOM is the brainchild of one Marcus Jordan, the youngest son of His Airness himself, Michael. An upscale sneaker and streetwear boutique, inspired by the nucleus of the Jordan family’s estate: their eponymous trophy room. More than symbolizing the legacy of its patriarch, it was a space that drew family, friends, and associates together.

Christmas mornings and casual gatherings within its walls were never simple affairs to visitors. A celebration or not, they were always moments mixed with immense inspiration.

Witnessing their father’s victories was as much a point of pride for Michael Jordan’s children as it was a silent challenge, an invitation to strive for greatness. For the younger MJ, his biggest addition yet to their “trophy room” is having his own.

About Trophy Room

Inevitably, Marcus Jordan grew up with “feelings of ‘needing’ to live up to the legend of [his] father.” From his early days on the basketball court to his college career at the University of Central Florida, the perpetual scrutiny fuelled his competitive spirit and pushed him to excel.

“Every time I stepped on the court, there was someone who wanted to dunk on or cross up Michael Jordan’s son,” he shared in an opine in Complex. “It comes with the name and it’s something that drives my competitiveness. Getting the opposing team’s A-game on any given night requires a level of consistency on my part, which drove me to get better each year.”

Nevertheless, Marcus yearned to forge his own path. He understood the importance of a strong work ethic, instilled by his parents, and the value of business acumen, evident in his father’s diverse ventures (from car dealerships, Nike partnership, to restaurants). His studies in hospitality management also further solidified his interest in customer service, a core value instilled in his upbringing.

Far from a whim and thoughtless nepotism, over a year of research and refinement went into the concept, requiring him to address his “super old-school” father’s concerns and to seek mentorship from industry veterans. Reaching out to Social Status founder, James Whitner, he was taught how to run the business, from having a successful opening day to its everyday operations.

Trophy Room officially opened on May 23, 2016. In his words a serendipitous date referencing his jersey number, “5”, during his playing days, as well as his father’s “23”.

While it is ultimately a store, it’s also a ‘museum’ reflective of a warm familiar feeling the family had in their home. The store’s décor incorporates vintage Jordan family home videos and photos, memorabilia from his father’s playing days, game-worn shoes, etc. A glimpse into their personal world growing up.

“It was by far one of the best spots in the house. My dad would include all of our trophies with his anytime we earned them. It was something that made us want to strive to earn our own accomplishments. I want to recreate that same feeling with Trophy Room. I want it to be a place where customers can feel a part of the family.”

Originally located in Orlando, Florida’s Disney Springs, they closed in 2019 and operated online until 2022, when they reopened at their current location at 50 S. Rosalind Ave in downtown Orlando.

And as before, Trophy Room continues to curate and sell footwear and apparel through their partnerships with Jordan Brand, Nike Inc., and Upper Deck Authenticated; simultaneously paying homage Michael Jordan’s legendary NBA career.
