Eeveelutions have always been among the most popular Pokémon in the entire franchise. Their popularity not only stems from their own in-universe depictions and characterizations, but also what they represent to the fans themselves. After all, the idea and the dream of “becoming whatever we believe we can be” is a truly resonant one.

Capitalizing on this, Creatures Inc. released the Eevee Heroes subset in 2021 during the eighth generation of the Pokémon TCG. Among the myriad of Eeveelution cards launched, by far the biggest draw proved to be this Sylveon V Special Full Art Secret Rare (SR) card; it’s also one that has seen a recent gradual increase in demand.

Illustrated by Yuu Nishida, the gentle watercolor-esque card artwork adds a level of whimsy that’s the perfect match for Sylveon and its Fairy type. Gameplay-wise, this card more than holds its own thanks to its Dream Gift ability which delivers to the player an item of the player’s choice from the deck.

As the newest of the eight Eeveelutions, a “novelty” factor, especially among those who grew up with just the original three, might be contributing to the card’s sizeable value. Finally, it’s also worth mentioning that this card is likely much-desired by many LGBTQ+ collectors and players, particularly because Sylveon has gained something of a reputation as the unofficial “icon” of LGBTQ+ Pokémon fans.

This card has already been released in English as card 184/203 of the Evolving Skies expansion.

A Sylveon V Special Full Art card (Eevee Heroes [S6a] 083/069) now goes for ¥25,500 (~US$169).
