With the release of the 500 Years in the Future [OP-07] booster pack on 24 February 2024, the ONE PIECE Card Game metagame has shifted once again. Based on data gleaned from official and unofficial tournament play, we now know which deck archetypes are dominating this early stage of the seventh edition of the ONE PIECE Card Game meta.

(Blue/Black) Sakazuki

This deck archetype has probably been the most dominant thus far in the current meta. Loaded with finishers that remove opposing high-cost Characters, it combines stability through additional card draws with the ability to put board pressure on the opponent. On top of that, users of this deck may sometimes have the opportunity to take out multiple opposing characters at once, paving the way for a comeback victory.

A deck archetype that prioritizes “Sky Island” cards, this defensively-oriented deck greatly extends durability thanks to its Leader effect. To get the most out of this deck, players can unleash their Charlotte Katakuri or Yamato cards after sustaining heavy damage—which would’ve been more readily absorbed due to its durability. The lower the Life remaining, the more powerful those cards and thus the deck becomes.

This relatively recent deck archetype was popularized by Filipino player Pierre Reposar after he used it to win a regional tournament. Its Leader effect lends the deck well to longer matches by allowing Characters and Leaders to rest and replenish Life. The deck also has strong defensive capabilities through its prevention of would-be fatal opposing attacks.
