The New Balance 2002R Arrives in “Steel Blue”
Reminiscent of the palette popularized by Ronnie Fieg.
New Balance is back at it again, this time with a play on the fan-favorite 2002R. The model’s a dichotomy—fusing its iconic retro look with modern tech in a marriage of comfort and style. The “Steel Blue” colorway is a nod to the palette popularized by Kith’s Ronnie Fieg.
The pair showcases New Balance’s craftsmanship using premium materials and a classic color shceme that echos the brand’s celebrated releases (think: Grey Day).
The mud guard, midfoot, heel, and vamp are clothed with dark grey suede overlays, creating a rich texture that adds depth. A Steel Blue mesh base complements the suede, offering a subtle yet striking pop of color. This blue is repeated on the laces and inner N logo lining, lending a cohesive look.
A cream leather heel tab adds an elegant contrast to the overall darker tones of the shoe, while a metallic silver NB-branded heel tab adds a sprig of luxury into the mix. The cream foam midsole ensures comfort, while a black rubber outsole ensures durability and traction.
The New Balance 2002R “Steel Blue” arrives in 2024 at New Balance stores and select retailers, online and in-store. Available in men’s sizes, each pair is priced at US$150.
