In 1992, Pepsi initiated a partnership with then-Orlando Magic rookie and Hall of Famer-to-be Shaquille O’Neal. On 13 February 2024, Shaq made franchise history when his #32 Magic jersey became the first to be retired by the team. To commemorate this milestone, Pepsi and Shaq have collaborated with The Shoe Surgeon to release the Pepsi x The Shoe Surgeon x Reebok Shaq Attaq “PEPSI ‘SNEAK’ER”.

During the recent NBA All-Star Weekend, Shaq wore the “PEPSI ‘SNEAK’ER”, giving millions of viewers a first look at the sneaker. On the shoe, Reebok’s iconic “Pump” is reimagined as the Pepsi Globe. Pepsi’s color palette is clearly displayed all over this colorway—the sneaker is coated in black and electric blue.

A Pepsi pattern in similar colors is shown on the insole, while the outsole boasts paint splatter detailing. The shoe’s electric blue laces refer to the ’90s Magic jersey. Finally and perhaps most importantly, there’s an electric blue leather chamber on the shoe’s underside that’s perfectly sized to house a Pepsi Mini can.

Following its release on 20 February 2024, the Pepsi x The Shoe Surgeon x Reebok Shaq Attaq “PEPSI ‘SNEAK’ER” will only be available until 25 February 2024 for the time being. Only 22 pairs are available as of 22 February 2024. Applicants may proceed to social media and use the hashtags #PepsiMinis and #Sweepstakes for a chance to win one of these limited-edition sneakers.

It remains to be seen if following this campaign, there will be any plans for the sneakers to be released to the mass market. Stay tuned for further information.
