JUST IN: Tokyo Design Studio New Balance ML610S “Sandstone” and “Dark Mushroom”
Based on their archival 422, retrofitting the 610 with a slip-on make.
Since the permeation of gorpcore into the fashion mainstream, utilitarian elements have been a mainstay in the modern design lexicon; be it in apparel, accessories, and footwear.
In re the last, one of its finest examples is the New Balance ML610S, designed in conjunction with their Tokyo Design Studio (TDS) division. This slip-on overhaul reimagines the iconic MT610, originally released in 2012 as an off-road running shoe.
Succeeding last year’s “Concrete” and “Outer Space” colorways are the titular “Sandstone” and “Dark Mushroom”, blending outdoor practicality with urban fashion.
The upper, featuring a blend of mesh, leather, and suede, draws upon the heritage of the New Balance 422. While reminiscent of the classic MT610, TDS’s 610 ditches the laces and side N logo for a sleek, slip-on silhouette.
The ABZORB midsole, renowned for its exceptional shock absorption, ensures plush comfort. And for those venturing beyond the city streets, the highly durable N-durance outsole offers reliable traction and ground contact.
If your curiosity is piqued, you’re spared the wait since the pairs are available now on New Balance’s webstore with an RRP of US$150.
