Go Crazy for the adidas Crazy 1 “All-Star Game”
A throwback to the days when the Black Mamba was at the peak of his powers.
Just over two decades ago, Kobe Bryant was co-leading the charge in one of the most dominant runs in NBA history. Alongside Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe was about to steer the Los Angeles Lakers to the second championship of a legendary three-peat in 2001.
That year, Kobe also made the NBA All-Star Game for the third time. Now, adidas pays homage to this appearance with the adidas Crazy 1 “All-Star Game”, a special-edition release expected to coincide with this year’s All-Star Weekend.
Shrouded in a Yellow Cab, Cloud White, and Core Black palette, the shoe’s aesthetic hearkens back to its roots. The Three Stripe branding is clearly visible on the synthetic leather upper.
The shoe’s lightweight full-length EVA midsole effectively provides comfort. Working with this is the herringbone-traction rubber outsole—ideal for grip and stability.
The shoe even has a self-referential element—there’s a logo with the number “01” on the tongue. That number, of course, refers to the year of the All-Star Game in which Kobe wore these sneakers and further burnished his then-growing legacy.
Currently available in Australia and Europe, the adidas Crazy 1 “All-Star Game” will hit global markets just in time for the upcoming All-Star festivities in February 2024 via adidas.com. The sneakers have a retail price of US$150.
