Rukus and New Balance pay tribute to Louisiana’s rich cultural tapestry, replete with traditions and folklore. Unveiling the Numeric 440 “Voodoo Doll”, the pair is inspired by Voodoo symbolism and craftsmanship, akin to Zion Williamson’s recent Nike Air Jordan 1 Low “Voodoo Alternate”.

The sneaker boasts a shaggy suede upper reminiscent of the talismans in Voodoo rituals. Burlap mid-paneling adds a textured finish, while distinctive tack-stitched leather elements echo the intricate stitching found on Voodoo dolls.

The “N” Logo is rendered in pebbled leather on the lateral, complemented by a tack-stitched version on the medial. Rukus’ cursive logo adorns the tongue tag, while the throwback 103 mark embellishes the underside, and the heel tab’s leather. Unique suede heel panels feature actual buttons sewn on, nodding to the eyes of Voodoo dolls.

As a final flourish, the insoles showcase a custom Rukus vèvè—a Voodoo symbol—superimposed on a wood grain graphic. An homage to Voodoo rituals where vèvès are drawn on the floor to invoke spirits.
