Sole Superior 2023—Singapore’s premier sneaker and streetwear convention—will take place on Saturday, 25th November. Spanning the 1,014 square meters of HomeTeamNS Khatib’s Grand Ballroom, the AC will be maxed to accommodate the “heat” its attendees will bring, turning the heartland streets of Yishun into a street culture paradise.

In their words, “The faucets aren’t broken, but the drip overfloweth; feast on the swag and slay as the sneakerhead community comes out to play.”

While every iteration has been a special affair, 2023’s edition will mark the 10th anniversary of the event. Ten years of presenting global brands and local labels. Ten years of connecting artists, customizers, resellers, and community groups. Ten years of giving local street culturalists a place to celebrate their shared passion.

What you can look forward to at the Super10r event

1. Exclusive Super10r 2023 Event Merchandise

Collaborating with line art illustrator Alex Lim for their 10th anniversary visuals, the resulting artwork has been adapted for special edition Hydro Flask bottles and exclusive event tees, limited to just 50 pieces.

2. Sole Superior x Saint Barkley Sneaker Collaboration

The Sole Superior x Saint Barkley sneakers made their debut at Sole Superior last November, followed by an unveiling to Indonesian audiences at Jakarta Sneaker Day in February 2023.

However, excitement turned to shock when sample pairs of the sneakers, encased in a locked display, were mysteriously stolen. Despite the unfortunate incident, the theft inadvertently generated a buzz and notoriety around the sneakers.

SS and SB took the situation in stride, even praising the thief for their “Terrific Taste, Terrible Ethics”. The stolen sneakers were never recovered, but the incident added to the mystique surrounding the collaboration.

Out of the 500 pairs made, 100 will be availed at SS2023 for an affordable retail price of $66.

3. Sole Superior Archive Giveaway and Lucky Draw Prizes

So what’s a sneaker convention without a giveaway? Thus, a lucky few will get to bring home a selection of sold-out/deadstock items from the past 10 years. A rare chance to time travel and scoop up an array of the most sought-after pieces from renowned labels like Limited Edt, SBTG, adidas, Pras The Bandit, Temple of Skate (Mr. Tucks), Tell Your Children, SNKRDUNK (that’s us!), et al.

4. Live Tattoos by Persona

In 2016, Sole Superior hosted two young tattoo apprentices with a booth who in turn offered free tattoos on the spot, likely the first time live tattooing was ever done at an event in Singapore.

Now, seven years later, one of those apprentices, Alfrey (who now runs his own studio) is back to celebrate Sole Superior’s 10th anniversary with another round of flash tattoos! This time, Alfrey will be joined by Jared and Ames of Persona. Guests can also pre-register to have a tattoo done on the day from an exclusive flashsheet created by Alex Lim.

5. Superior Kids’ Colouring Area & T-shirt Design Competition

As an age-inclusive, family-friendly event, Sole Superior with their regional contemporaries from Batam, Rise of the Sneakers, will host a dedicated kids activity area for coloring where young minds can unleash their creativity. Additionally, the event will also feature a t-shirt design competition where the top three designs will be produced and sold in 2024.

6. Community Marketplace / Independent Vendors

The hallmark of a sneaker convention, and the hallmark of all things Superior. Expect to find a souk of vendors carrying sneakers, both new and vintage apparel, accessories, collectibles, customs, local labels and more.

The same way DJs of old would be physically digging through the crates for gems, this is where anyone willing to invest the effort (and dough) can find street culture’s best-kept-secrets.
