The incoming ASICS “SHIGEN Pack 2.0” comprises the GEL-NYC and EX89, a thematic release with a particular focus towards sustainable production and awareness. The name “Shigen”, “resource” in Japanese, reflects the sportswear legacy brand’s commitment to reducing their environmental impact.

Both the GEL-NYC and the EX89 were made with recycled materials, including recycled leather, PET, and paper. The GEL-NYC uses 17.7% recycled elements, while the EX89 uses 16.5%.

The pairs are dressed in White and Dolphin Blue, inspired by the color of public trash cans and garbage trucks in Japan, intended to raise awareness of recycling and the importance of separating trash.

The ASICS “SHIGEN Pack 2.0” is scheduled for release in Japan on 20 October with an RRP of 17,600 JPY (~US$120) each. Keep a lookout for them on ASICS Japan!
