Nike Equips the Air Force 1 Low With Protective Gaiters
A heavy-duty, winterized version of the iconic silhouette.
The Air Force 1 is the quintessence of Nike, adjacent to the Air Jordan 1. Through the ebb and flow of the last 40 years, the silhouette has maintained its position at the vanguard of the Swoosh’s catalogue. Just when all’s been seen and all’s been done, new surprising interpolations are invented and introduced.
Following the GORE-TEX-imbued “Hangul Day” AF1 Low, the utilitarian concept is employed once more on the titular shoes, equipping it with protective gaiters à la the Nike Air Max Scorpion seen earlier this year.
The feature a weather-resistant design with branding details in the form of an enlarged Swoosh and mountain emblem, juxtaposed against an olive backdrop. Its aesthetic brought together by a mustard bottom and a black toggle chain.
Moreover, the Nike Air embroidery stands out in teal at the heel, while presiding over the black hooks on the profiles to secure the gaiters. The olive–mustard palette of the gaiters proliferate on the main body too, complementary to the golden brown of the outsoles and white midsoles.
There’s no firm release date disclosed yet but they are projected to be released sometime within the year. Stay tuned!
