Building Black Bed-Stuy co-founders Kai Avent-deLeon, Rajni Jacques, Nana Yaa Asare-Boadu, and Dana Arbib have been continuing their their good work through various fundraising initiatives, product launches, and collaborative Sunday market place with To Many More. And as summer draws to close, they get an assist from a brand from where summer seemingly never ends.

Vans offer their Authentic as the canvas for their freshman collaboration with Building Black Bed-Stuy. Through the prism of Avent-deLeon and the company’s MO, the eyelets, “Vans” tabs, and other features are interpolated with a checkerboard-patterned upper, accented with the palette of the African flag and the the group’s name.

As a final flourish, the midsole and laces bear the words, “We believe that self sufficiency is key on the journey to black liberation.”

There’s only so much that can be discerned from the limited images and information but the pair is scheduled for release on 1 October. With it just a few weeks away, stay tuned for more details to emerge within the coming days.
