[Update 28 Sep 2023] King James himself officially announces the release of the Nike LeBron 21 “Akoya” on his Instagram. Find them on Nike’s brick-and-click stores from 28 September for US$200. Official product images have yet to emerge but the pair’s been disclosed to have a palette comprising Light Bone, Campfire Orange, Celestine Blue, Pink Rise, and Dark Russet.

The Nike LeBron 21 first emerged in July through an Instagram post by the King himself. Months and several leaks later (of another “Gold” colorway), the Swoosh officially unveils it with the titular “Akoya” at the vanguard. Much like its XX predecessor, the LeBron 21 was created with the future generation in mind, inspired as well by Zhuri, LeBron James’ 8-year-old daughter.

Designed to protect the modern player, the common oyster becomes an inspiration with the venting purposefully striated to resemble the shell’s veining to control explosive motions. A direction further evident on the construction, which consists of a mono-mesh base with 360-degree zonal wires laid on top.

The sole unit features a full-length Cushlon 2.0 foam for comfort, a midfoot TPU shank for stability and added pop, a Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot for propulsion, and a bottom-loaded, 13-millimeter Zoom unit.

There isn’t a price point revealed yet but they have been confirmed for release on 28 September. Keep a lookout for them on Nike Basketball’s brick-and-click stores.
