The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Ueno Sakura” Will Not See a Retro Release.

Once a Japan exclusive released in 2005, the mythic pair is purported to return in spring 2024.

[Update 16 Oct 2023] Following initial reports on the return of the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Ueno Sakura”, it has now been confirmed that the pair will not see a retro release due to “internal reasons”, as stated during The Complex Sneakers Show podcast.

While it may be disappointing news for fans, rest assured that if there are any updates on the potential return of this pair, we will keep you informed via our magazine.

Nike released the Air Force 1 “Ueno Sakura” in 2005 to coincide with the cherry blossom season in Japan. Specifically for the Japanese market, the exclusives naturally became highly coveted in a time when secondary markets were nascent. Almost two decades later, the pair is purported to return.

Its name pays homage to Tokyo’s Ueno Park and the country’s Sakura season. Crafted to summon the elegant vibe of the cherry blossoms, a Watermelon Pink outsole works in tandem with its Light Bone suede upper. The word “Ueno” is engraved subtly inside the delicate petals of the laser-etched sakura flowers on the forefoot.

There’s no firm release date yet but they are expected to return in the spring of 2024. More details should emerge within the coming months so stay tuned!

Elsewhere, the Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike Air Force 1 Low is also scheduled for a return.
