Aaron Judge Signs With Jordan Brand; Receives His First Air Jordan 1 Low PE
One of baseball's finest joins up with the GOAT of basketball.
Jordan Brand is extending its wings, literally. Best known within the basketball stratosphere, the Jumpman is now elevating its game by signing athletes outside of the sport. Not too long ago, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts of the NFL was announced as a new Jordan Brand athlete. Now, the brand has moved onto the baseball pitch by tapping on New York Yankees’ right fielder Aaron Judge.
Judge follows after fellow MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani, who made headlines after signing with New Balance earlier in the year. Clearly, footwear brands see the exponential value of the MLB and its stars. Judge exploded onto the scene back in 2017, earning league-wide acclaim as one of the best rookie-year performances in history. Since then, he’s garnered 5x All-Star acclaims, as well as the aforementioned AL MVP last year.
To celebrate the signing, Jordan Brand is also giving Judge his first Nike Air Jordan 1 Low PE. Jordan Brand’s PE Designer Ryan Smith revealed the shoes on Instagram, calling it the “Double Gum”. The colorway pays tribute to Judge’s renowned in-game ritual of chewing bubblegum.
Judge starts every game by popping two pieces of gum, and replaces them only when he gets a strikeout. The aim of the ritual is to conclude the entire game with the same piece of gum, now an old and tasteless piece. It’s a unique ritual, but one that certainly has drawn results for the young star.
Unfortunately, as these are PEs, they won’t be released to the public. But that might change in the future, so stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, check out the Aaron Judge x Air Jordan 1 Low “Double Gum” PE via the top slider above.
