The PUMA MB.02 “Be You” Borrows Elements From Its History
A pair as flashy as its namesake's style of play.
LaMelo Ball is one of the most exciting basketball players in the NBA right now. In addition to being one of the future faces of the NBA, the future of the Charlotte Hornets also rest on his shoulders. At just 21, his skills are “otherworldly”, which has been the theme his prior PUMA releases have been built on. From its design cues to packaging, the direction culminated into last year’s “Galaxy” colorway. Carrying on the bold design choices, comes the “Be You” interpolation of his MB.02.
Each side of the sneakers feature its own polychromatic makeup and patterns on both the upper and sole unit. An iridescent finish embellish the heel clip, with adjacent details including the multi-colored galaxy graphics.
The right shoe features volt tongues with linings on the profiles reminiscent of blue and red flames, while the left shoe features pink tongues and purple and pink flames. Adding to the disparate design, the left shoe bears a bright orange interior; the right, purple. The midsoles also have a gradient appearance, enhanced by cheetah prints along the forefoot.
It’s eye-catching and if it catches your desire too, the pair will land at PUMA’s brick-and-click and select retailers on 9 June with a price tag of US$175.
