The Hybrid Jordan MVP 678 Gets the Classic “UNC” Makeover
Even if it celebrates the peaks of its namesake's career, it goes back to the colorway where it all started.
Hybrid sneakers that amalgamates the design elements from Jordan Brand’s most famous silhouettes frequently receive a mixed response, ranging from criticism to unmitigated mockery. There’re exceptions however like the Dub Zero and Spiz’ike, that frequently ranks at the top of the brand’s sales lists. Joining this class, comes the MVP 678.
The titular pair pays homage to the three iconic models Michael Jordan wore during the fecund years of his first three-peat. Design cues are taken from the Air Jordan 6, Air Jordan 7, and Air Jordan 8; visibly represented all over the upper. A seamless fusion of all three iconic designs can be seen in the tongue, which clearly references the AJ7, the sole unit, which draws inspiration from the AJ6, and the multi-colored heel overlay and fixture, which references the AJ8.
The silhouette may be a celebration of his achievements as a pro, the colorway pays homage to MJ’s time at Chapel Hill. The “UNC” variant is a nod to the Tar Heels’ colors that are frequently seen in almost all Jordan Brand models prior.
There’s no release date just yet but with the emergence of these official images, believe the pair to arrive on Nike and the Jumpman’s brick-and-click stores imminently. They’re currently expected with an RRP of US$165.
