[Update 10 Oct 2023] The running world now has a new GOAT and fastest marathon super shoe. At the Chicago Marathon last weekend, 23-year-old Nike athlete Kelvin Kiptum shattered the world record in a pair of Nike Alphafly 3, with a timing of 2 hours 35 seconds.

Following Kiptum’s incredible feat, Nike has announced a release date for the highly-anticipated super shoe. Alongside the first official image of the Alphafly 3, Nike confirmed that the model “tested and proven by the fastest runners in the world” will be “coming for your personal best January 2024”.

[Update 21 Sep 2023] Early looks of the Nike Alphafly 3 “Prototype” have started appearing, with the best closeup yet coming from Henrik Ingebrigtsen, the eldest of the Ingebrigtsen brothers, courtesy of @the_secret_shoe.

The visible zoom air pods in the midsole appears in a vibrant orange shade, similar to the pair worn by Eliud Kipchoge. Stay tuned for the latest release details of the Nike Alphafly 3.

[Update 15 Aug 2023] Late last month, Eliud Kipchoge was seen wearing a new Nike Alphafly 3 while out training. This has sparked rumors of the highly-anticipated Nike Alphafly NEXT% 3 releasing soon. With the Berlin Marathon happening on 24 September, all eyes are on Kipchoge, and speculation is rife about whether the world number 1 and olympic champion will officially debut the Alphafly 3.

Widely regarded as the GOAT, Kipchoge has been heavily involved in the conception of the Nike Alphafly models. From these latest looks, the Alphafly 3 features a thicker layer of midsole foam, presumably Nike’s proprietary ZoomX foam, that wraps around the Nike Air pods, and sports a sharper heel profile. The Alphafly 2 retails for US$275, and we are expecting the next iteration of this super runner to be priced at a similar range.

Apart from their lifestyle products, Nike has also been actively working on sports-geared footwear throughout the years. Recently, an unreleased Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% model as been revealed, which was also seen on-foot by Japanese long-distance runner Suguru Osaka.

First introduced as an update to the famed Vaporfly series, the Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% has currently seen two generations of releases. The upcoming model is the latest successor of the series, catered towards marathon and long-distance running purposes.

Similarly, the “prototype” model features a full-length ZoomX foam technology and carbon plate underfoot, supported by Zoom Air Pods at the front for superior response. Dressing its knit upper comes oversized Swoosh logos on the outer sides, and mini ones on the inner rear.

While release details remains scanty at the moment, the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 3 is said to be arriving in the summer season of 2023. In the meantime, we will keep you informed when more updates surface.
