[Update 11 Aug 2023] As it turns out, the cryptic new Kobe silhouette that Nike was teasing is this same “Triple White” Nike Kobe 8 Protro—although the seraphic “Halo” name is more apropos. They’re scheduled for release on Kobe Bryant’s birthday on 23 August, just a day ahead of Mamba Day on 24. Look out for the shoes then on SNKRS and select retailers with an RRP of US$180.

[Update 10 Jul 2023] New images have surfaced of the Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Triple White”, courtesy of @iamricosuav. Although there’ve been angular looks before, this is the first look of the pair’s outsole. It features a herringbone traction pattern at the forefoot and heel, sharing its duties with a triangular monogram design. The Kobe logo at the rear sits at the confluence of the two.

[Update 9 Jun 2023] Enjoy the new on-feet looks of the Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Triple White” by @yankeekicks. Should nothing change between now and 24 August, we’ll be able to get our hands on the pair on Mamba Day at SNKRS!

Nike and the Kobe Bryant Estate recently restarted collaborations, starting with the Nike Zoom Kobe 4 Protro “Mambacita” honoring the life of Gianna “Gigi” Bryant. Succeeding the Kobe 4, Kobe 6, comes the titular Kobe 8 announced for the second half of the year.

The Kobe 8 has been a recognizable silhouette highly favored by quick-footed guards like Ja Morant and Jordan Poole. The shoes, created by Eric Avar, bear a soccer-inspired look, are incredibly light with a low-cut style.

They arrive in a traditional monochromatic design with engineered mesh uppers and signature pebbled leather overlays. The tongue and laterals are accented with the embroidered branding elemtents of the Swoosh and Kobe’s. All the above-mentioned sit atop the Zoom Air midsoles integrated with braille elements carved on the back, and a gloss-black wedge at the midfoot and traction outsoles that are suitable for hardwood floors.

As mentioned, they’ll be released in celebration of this year’s Mamba Day, 24 August. Find them on SNKRS then with an RRP of US$180.

Elsewhere, two new colorways of a CLOT x Nike Dunk Lows are on the way.
