The NEPENTHES’ New York-based label Engineered Garments has partnered with the iconic Los Angeles shoemaker, K-Swiss, for its most latest foray into footwear. The unisex collection is a contemporary iteration of the K-Swiss Classic GT model, first released in 1966. The models elevated by the utilitarian signature of Engineered Garments and the classic minimalism of K-Swiss.

Daiki Suzuki, the founder and creative director of Engineered Garments, says that he became a fan since he first saw K-Swiss in the 1980s while working at a store in Tokyo. Suzuki adds that his favorite car from the era is honored in the brown Classic GT.

The Engineered Garments x K-Swiss Classic GT is available in three hues and embodies the Japanese brand’s love of asymmetry by way of the reimagined cuts and materials. Case in point: the use of several D-rings and the combination of leather and suede in the uppers’ construction are two prominent examples of the investigation of asymmetry.

“For K-Swiss it was an honor to collaborate with Engineered Garments—a brand that, just as ours, seeks to elevate designs, posing the question of how to redefine a Classic,” said Senior Designer of Collaborations, Jon Tang. “This collaboration speaks to our identity, to push the limits of what elevated Classics can be.”

They’ll be available at the two parties’ webstores and select retailers from 12 May with an RRP of US$115.
