adidas to Sell Their Remaining YEEZY Inventory and Donate Part of Proceeds to Charity
After months of deliberation, adidas find a way to cut their losses.
adidas suffered a loss of more than $440 million when the YEEZY agreement was terminated in October 2022. According to reports last week, the restored partnership only applies to the Three Stripes’ remaining supply of adidas YEEZYs, which includes a new version of the YEEZY BOOST 350 “Pirate Black”. Neither adidas nor Ye disclosed this information in an official capacity, with this news reported by YEEZY MAFIA—an account pertinent to all things in regards to the latter.
The current conditions are as follows: Ye will earn 15% of the revenue from all sales, with the remainder going to selected foreign charities.
adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden also confirmed they’d had spent the last seven months evaluating their options, including one that involves destroying the remaining inventory entirely. But told investors that “burning several million pairs [of shoes] does not make sense.” He adds, “What we are trying to do now over time is sell parts of this inventory and donate money to the organizations that are helping us and that were also hurt by Kanye’s statements.”
Although adidas have announced their intention to sell the remaining inventory, Gulden ascertains they’re still working out the specifics of how and when the sale of the stock will take place.
