NBA All-Star Devin Booker’s Converse Chuck 70 Is As Clean as His Playstyle
"Clean, classic, and timeless. The Chuck 70 is part of my uniform." —Devin Booker
Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker is one of Converse’s biggest advocates in a league dominated by Nike and adidas. Although he doesn’t wear them on-court, he has on multiple occasions worn them through the pre-game tunnel walk. It’s a perfect complementary to his minimalistic style and penchant for things of a bygone era like vintage American muscle cars.
Before the arrival of his signature Nikes next season, he strips the classic Chuck 70 into its bare bones with a singular “Egret” colorway dressing the pair from toe box to heel, collar to outsole. Even the hallmark lining of the shoe has been foregone, and the medial One Star patch has been retrofitted to a tonal embroidery. Less is always more, especially for the iconic silhouette. Even with the absence of its standard componentry, it’s still as recognizable from any angle, any distance.
They’re scheduled to be released on 12 April on Converse and Nike SNKRS for US$95 with a wider release at select retailers on the 13.
Elsewhere under the Nike umbrella, another iteration of the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low “Bred Toe” is on the way.
