The Brooklyn Nets Get an Assist From KAWS for Their 2023–2024 City Edition Jersey
The artistic pedigree of Brooklyn becomes evident on these jerseys, from Basquiat to KAWS.
[Update 3 Nov 2023] In conjunction with the unveiling of all NBA teams’ 2023–2024 City Edition Jerseys, the KAWS-designed Brooklyn Nets uniform is available now for pre-order. Head over to the NBA store and get yours for US$124. They’re expected to be shipped from 18 November onwards.
In the last few seasons, the Brooklyn Nets’ city edition jerseys have featured the signature motifs of Brooklyn native Jean-Michel Basquiat. For the next, another BK resident KAWS picks up the torch. The artist moved to the borough in the 1990s at the golden age of graffiti and street art, where he made his name.
Much like its predecessor, the jerseys are regaled with the artist’s signatures. For KAWS, the design cue is taken from his 10-part “TENSION” artwork. The “NETS” logo is similarly styled across the chest in one of his trademark type as he’s done previously on the “Monsters” collection with General Mills. Further asserting his mark, comes the hallmark “XX” on the waistband, with a finishing touch by way of his imprint above the jock tag.
They’ll be available on the Brooklyn Nets’ official store in the fall, sometime before or after the start of the new season.
