Every sneaker brand is putting out their own collection in celebration of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary this year. Rightfully so, considering hip-hop’s role in the ascendence of sneaker culture (vice versa). And rightfully so, with the retrofitting of the archetypal PUMA Suede. A legacy model tethered to the culture’s nascence, foremost synonymous with the breakdancing era of the 1980s.

R H U D E’s Rhuigi Villaseñor takes on the mantle of executing the tribute. The iteration of the “B-Boy” Suede sees it dressed in American Beauty and Pristine. The suede upper shines in Light Pink complemented by the Metallic Gold accents that land on the PUMA branding on the lateral as well as the “19” and “91” on the heel. Dirty White forms the signature Wave on the profile, the laces, in addition to the pre-aged finish on the sole unit.

Other notable features include the R H U I G I emblem on the tongue tag, and the alternate red, and white laces that accompany the shoe.

The commemorative pair is scheduled to be released on 1 April with a price point of US$120. Find them on PUMA.com on April Fools’ Day, no joke.

In other news, learn more about the purported Martine Rose x Stüssy collaboration.
