While MSCHF has always threaded lightly on the lines of functional and ridiculous, MSCHF always gets the online world buzzing about them. The collective set the world alight with their Big Red Boot barely a month ago. From celebrities to fashion icons, everyone was talking about the Astro Boy/Dora The Explorer-inspired boots when they dropped.

Their next crazy invention comes in the form of their BWD shoes. If you’re confused about how it looks like, don’t worry—you’re not the only one. The BWD is open on both ends of the shoe, allowing it to be worn either way.

On one end, the BWD takes on somewhat of a sneaker-sandal hybrid, with an open-toe concept on the white part of the sneaker. On the other hand, the reverse way of wearing sees you slip them on, in a way that kind of resembles a mule silhouette. That being said, wearing it that way greets you with a sneaker’s heel at the toe box position.

Regardless of which way you choose to wear the sneaker, we can all agree that the MSCHF BWD is definitely eye-catching. While their previous all-red endeavor was greeted with praise the last time around, their latest invention is met with head scratches. But, as we’ve seen in the past, all it takes is an influencer or two to turn this into the next big fashion trend.

Only time will tell whether it’s a hit or miss, but nonetheless—expect the MSCHF BWD to release on 11 April on MSCHF’s website. For a closer look, check out the top slider above.
