[Update 6 Jul 2023] Official images of the Nike Air Max 1 “Pale Ivory” have just emerged. There’s no release date yet but it shouldn’t be far behind these official photos. Stay tuned!

When it comes to sneaker design, Tinker Hatfield’s name will always be at the fore with many models synonymous with it. Before his string of Air Jordan successes however, there’s the Air Max 1 that preceded them all. There’ve been thousands (or at least hundreds) of iterations, and in lieu of Air Max Day 2023, another’s in the pipeline.

Neutrals form the core of its design. Pale Ivory stands out against the Whites on the upper. The latter the base layer in mesh, complemented by the leather overlays on the vamp, quarter and heel panels. The signature color shines over the profile Swooshes and the suede mudguards on the circumference.

Similar in tone is the Sanddrift that makes up the outsole underfoot. Presiding over it on the midsole is the visible Air bubble window on the heel. These parts catch the eye, simply because of the earlier-mentioned Whites that allow it, lending them contrast.

There’s no firm release date yet but with the celebration of the silhouette looming, there’s reason to expect their arrival around the festivities. Find them on Nike’s brick-and-click then with a price tag of US$140.

While waiting, consider the upcoming Nike Air Max 90 Futura “Needlework” as well, just as similar in palette.
