There are few that has reached the sort of prestige Concepts and Nike SB’s “Lobster” series in the sneaker universe. You’d have to go back all the way to 2008 for the first time the duo combined for the inaugural Nike SB Dunk Low “Red Lobster”. Since then, seven different “Lobster” colorways have been produced, with the latest being the “Orange Lobster” late last year.
While the “Lobster” saga has prospered for both brands over the past 15 years, unfortunately all good things must come to an end. This might come off as a bit of a surprise, especially given the fact new colors were teased not too long ago. Thankfully for fans, that end is going to be beautiful if reports are to be believed.
According to @soleretriever, the Boston-based brand is set to work on their final Nike SB Dunk Low “Lobster” come Holiday 2023. There’s no better send-off for the beloved series than a culmination of everything that’s released before, in true Nike SB style.
Yes, ardent sneakerheads know exactly what we’re talking about. Or rather, “What The Lobster” we’re talking about. The duo are set to combine two of Nike SB’s most iconic designs—the “Lobster” and the “What The”—into one. While official photos hasn’t surfaced, the Concepts x Nike SB Dunk Low “What The Lobster” is expected to feature a myriad of past “Lobster” colorways across its upper.
@soleretriever also reports that the upcoming offering will come in a mismatched design across both sneakers, as well as a multicolored bib printed lining that’s iconic to the series. Speaking of iconic, the toe box rubber bands are also expected to return too.
It’s definitely going to be a bittersweet goodbye to the famed “Lobster” saga. But at least, it’s going out in one of the best ways a sneaker aficionado could possibly dream of. Purported to arrive in the Holiday 2023 season, expect to see more news about its appearance and release in the coming months. We’ll be sure to keep you updated here as soon as we can.
