Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa is one of Japan’s finest celebrity chefs. In 1987, Nobu opened his first restaurant in Beverly Hills, California, named “Matsuhisa”, which has since led to a wide array of restaurants in his namesake opening all over the world. Being a household name in culinary, Matsuhisa has turned into a household name amongst the elite.

In 2021, Matsuhisa teamed up with designer Chris Stamp to create the Sushi Club. Stamp, the founder of LA-based streetwear label Stampd. Having worked on collaborations with globally influential brands and artists such as IKEA, Puma and Daniel Arsham, the Sushi Club is a match made in Hollywood.

Deriving from the duo’s mutual respect and similarities, the Sushi Club was created as an inclusive community catered towards the lifestyle of culinary art. Based off both the Beverly Hills and Aspen Matsuhisa restaurant locations, the Beverly Hills Sushi Club and Aspen Sushi Club are the two main product lines around the label thus far.

Now, it seems like shoe giants Nike are jumping in on the sushi trend, giving an opportunity to the Sushi Club in the form of an Air Force 1 collaboration.

Aptly named the “Sushi Force 1”, the iconic silhouette builds atop the classic “Triple White” formula. Perhaps its a nod to Nobu’s penchant for simple-yet-intricate dishes, but it also lends towards Stamp’s love for the silhouette, with himself admitting that it’s his favorite shoe of all time on his Instagram.

Beyond the minimalistic all-clad white makeup, the Beverly Hills Sushi Club’s logo is embedded into the heel of the shoe, as well as the tongue tab and insole lining. All in all, it’s a shoe that’s created for Nobu’s target clientele—clean, exquisite and most certainly premium.

While a drop date has not yet been confirmed, Stamp has announced that this Stampd x Nobu x Nike Sushi Force 1 will be a limited run, pointing towards its scarcity and exclusivity of the collection. Enjoy a detailed look at the pair via the top slider above as we await further release details.
