[Update 17 Apr 2023] More images of Sean Wotherspoon’s Gazelle have emerged. It offers a cleaner, detailed, more angular looks of the pair. Therein all the details are brought to view. There’s the corduroy body; the chenille Three Stripes on the profiles; and of course, the many signature imprints of the designer dispersed throughout the upper.

A price point hasn’t been disclosed but they’re expected to be out on 16 May this year. Stay tuned for more details!

Sean Weatherspoon is arguably one of the most familiar names in the footwear landscape. His first foray into the zeitgeist came in 2018 after having had his own take on the Nike Air Max 97/1, one of the most popular sneakers of that year. In addition, he’s also a co-founder of vintage sneaker store Round Two which he started when he just 23. Between his entrepreneurial endeavours and his own YouTube channel, he’s also been a frequent collaborator with adidas.

The last year saw the release of their “Hot Wheels” Superturf Adventure, the “Supplier” Orketro, amongst a growing collaborative portfolio. Next subsumed is the Gazelle.

Following the release of the “Hemp” colorway, this “Corduroy” makeup was first teased as far back as mid-2022. Attention seems to be galvanized again with the designer teasing a new set of photos. With him giving glimpses of the final samples, the release should be imminent.

The Sean Wotherspoon x adidas Originals Gazelle Indoor “Corduroy” features the whimsical color palette typical of his work. This time it befalls over a white corduroy base layer. Grafitti-inspired graphics adorn the upper from the main body to the tongue.

Adjacent are the navy suede overlays that form the eyestays and the three stripes on the quarter. They’re complemented by white laces with hits of maroon on the tongue patch and the heel tab. Therein features embroidery of the designer’s floral insignia and initials. All this sits atop a translucent rubber outsole underfoot.
