Nike Ja 1 “Midnight” Shines in Swarovski Crystals
The Grizzly's been flying high and shining bright.
Ja Morant is one of the most exciting players in the NBA right now and in due time, in history. Only in his 4th season and he’s already racked up several accolades. 2020’s Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, and two All-Star selections. Only the crème de la crème get their own signature and it’s even rarer to get one this early in their career. But Ja Morant has—and with Nike, no less.
The Nike Ja 1 was announced on Christmas Day last year and following up the pastel palette of the debut is the titular “Midnight” colorway. It stands on the opposite end of the spectrum dressed in black uniform throughout the upper. Leather overlays preside over the double mesh base, particularly the mudguards, quarter, tongue and heel counter.
It’s a special pair with personal motifs more prevalent here than it was on the first. Aside from the logos on the footbed and tongue tag, there’s the “12” embroidered on the heel counter with inscriptions conspicuously hidden on the underside of the tongue, as well as the lateral heel.
The definite icing on the cake are the Swarovski crystals that envelope the Swooshes through to the connecting bridge at the rear. On the center too features the lace dubrae forming the word “12AM”. That too, is generously embedded with crystals.
All of the above sit atop a blue translucent rubber outsole, providing a view to the phrase “IT’S 12AM SOMEWHERE”, handwritten by Morant.
There currently is no release date just yet but they should arrive within the coming months. When new information surfaces, you can expect to read about it here. Stay tuned!
