Early Look: Supreme LA Box Logo Tee and Hoodie
In celebration of Supreme's new West Hollywood store.
[Update 16 Feb 2023] A new mockup from @dropsbyjay points towards the black hoodie carrying a black box logo, instead of the earlier purported red box logo. Furthermore, the text on the back appears to be written in white. Scheduled to release on 17th February exclusively in-store, expect a long queue to form outside Supreme’s new West Hollywood store for these.
Supreme has been at the heartbeat of Los Angeles’ North Fairfax Ave, ever since they opened their doors in 2004. Being the famed streetwear label’s second ever location after New York in 1994, its LA’s representative has helped transformed Fairfax Ave. into a “streetwear Mecca”. Many other streetwear brands started popping up in the otherwise sleepy neighborhood soon after, making it a must-stop location for streetwear enthusiasts worldwide.
19 years later, Supreme finally called it quits at Fairfax Ave., shutting its doors at the iconic storefront earlier this month. While many were undoubtedly saddened by the news, Supreme wasted no time at all presenting their new LA location in style. They flew a Supreme-branded helicopter over the skies of LA, along with promotional posters indicating their new LA address—8801 Sunset Blvd.
Moving to West Hollywood, Supreme is taking over the old Tower Records building on Sunset Boulevard, notably a lot bigger than their previous Fairfax store.
As with previous store openings, Supreme will drop a commemorative Box Logo design as well to inaugurate their new boutique. While no official imagery has been released, resident leaker @dropsbyjay have given us an early sample of the upcoming Bogo design, which is set to come in both a tee and hoodie.
Drawing inspiration from their 2004 Fairfax Box Logo, which was released when their Fairfax Ave. first open its shutters, this new iteration sees the infamous white-on-red box logo design on the front of the tee. On the back, the address of the upcoming West Hollywood location “8801 Sunset Blvd/West Hollywood, CA90069,” is imprinted in the same stylized font as the 2004 Fairfax Box Logo.
It’s a perfect way to send off their legendary store and usher in a new era for their LA division. Reportedly priced at US$40 for the tee and US$158 for the hoodie, we’re expecting to see these release in the coming weeks as Supreme readies its new West Hollywood store for its grand opening on 16th February.
In other news, Pharrell Williams has been appointed the new men’s creative director of Louis Vuitton.
