Vans and Liberaiders Reunite for 3-Piece Collection
Bigger collection, bolder colors.
[Update 20 Feb 2023] Official release information has landed for this Liberaiders x Vans collection! This collaborative project has enlisted the Vans Era 95 DX, Half Cab 33 DX, and SK8 Hi as canvases for a redesign, with Liberaiders’ brand logo as the source of inspiration.
The Vans Era 95 DX adopts the logo’s blue/white contrast for its upper, with paper crane prints decorating the white portions. On the other hand, the Vans Half Cab 33 DX decorates its body with a deep navy blue with Vans’ checkerboard pattern as the central visual. The Liberaiders’ bright blue lands on the “Half Cab” layer across the collar.
Lastly, the Vans SK8 Hi is the simplest of the three, featuring a navy blue base that is cut across with streaks of Liberaiders’ blue. The origami crane makes a reappearance on the sneaker’s heel. All pairs feature an intentionally-yellowed sole with a see-through outsole, revealing the liberating phrase “Unknown Destination”.
This Liberaiders x Vans collaboration will land on 25 Feb for those residing in Asia. Retail prices are expected to be made available then. Check out the top slider for more pictures of these three pairs.
Two years after their first partnership, Vans and Tokyo-based streetwear label Liberaiders are joining hands once again for another run of collaborative footwear.
The first Vans x Liberaiders collab consisted of two classic Vans silhouettes—Classic Slip-On and Authentic. This time, leaks from trusted sneaker account @le.syndrome suggest bolder plans for both brands with at least three new styles set to drop.
Spotted on the leaked images is a pair of Vans Authentic in a similar suede-and-canvas construction as the first Liberaiders x Vans collab—only this time the suede on the forefoot dons a sky blue shade, while the rest of the upper features white canvas.
Like before, Liberaiders’ logo is plastered all across the upper, now in a Sanskrit-like font. The text “DESTINATION UNKNOWN” returns, once more, printed underfoot on the outsoles.
From the images, there is likely a pair of Vans Sk8-Hi Zip, with Liberaiders’ Origami Crane symbol debossed at the heel, and another Half Cab pair that features the same suede and canvas make along with Vans’ checkerboard motif. Blue, navy and fuchsia pink seem to be the uniting color scheme on this Liberaiders x Vans trio.
While no release details or official images have been released by either brand, we are expecting the collection to drop some time this year, so stay tuned as we bring you more updates.
