Russell Westbrook’s Honor The Gift Label and his Jordan Why Not .6
Telling the story of the Brodie through his very own lifestyle brand, and his signature shoes.
Hometown boy and now-Laker Russell Westbrook grew up in the inner city of Los Angeles. Enduring all of its pain and perils, his come up is a Cinderella story. Having seen the pinnacle of success, he tells it through his own clothes, and his own shoes. On court and off, always “wearing his heart on his sleeves”.
The narration carries on from last year’s collaborative Why Not Zer0.5. The color palette stays relatively similar as the .6 arrives dressed in Pecan, Yellow Ochre, Phantom, Campfire Orange, Moon Fossil, and Black.
Standard in the Why Not line, a multi-material mix forms the design of the pair. The mesh base layer can be seen through the signature translucent shroud. Its zipper traversing asymmetrically from the medial toebox to the lateral ankle collar.
Branding elements are scattered throughout but the most notable ones include the varsity-inspired chenille emblem atop the leather tongue tag; and Westbrook’s logo that sits disparately from it on the other pair. The logo, with careful subtlety, makes another appearance through the decorative stitching on the medial quarter.
The personal motifs are still the main attraction. They’re aplenty but they culminate into the various graphics on the footbed. Although they make a strong presence on the interior, the storytelling starts earlier on the shoebox, separating it from the general releases of the model.
There’s no release date disclosed just yet nor a price point. With the official images made available already however, they shouldn’t be too far away from the surface.
