Reebok’s V’Day “Food & Bev” Collection Takes Its Design Cues From Aphrodisiacs
Well, they did say a way to a man's—and woman's— heart is through their stomach. Clever, Reebok.
Valentine’s Day has been an occasion for anyone and everyone in the lifestyle space to conjure up a commemorative piece. They’re late to the party relative to their contemporaries, so Reebok may not be on schedule but they’re certainly on time.
The saturation of thematic pairs have resulted in the overuse of certain motifs: hearts, red–pink–pastel palettes, and the like. It’s not to say they weren’t creative makes, but the shoemaker from England certainly delivers a unique concept, seeing an angle everyone’s overlooked. Taking a risk by deviating from safe or rather, clichéd color choices.
The table’s set for their three- course “Food & Bev”, a collection derivative of various aphrodisiacs; something new in the menu apropos to Valentine’s Day. Included are the Reebok Classic Leather “Cherries”; the Reebok Pump Omni Zone II “Chocolate”; and the Reebok BB 4000 II “Red Wine”.
They’re classic silhouettes with cues tied to the elements of their namesake. Their color palettes are befitting, with tongue tags pointing to their inspired sources. Whether they summon a desire or not, nobody can say it was done in bad taste.
They’re available now on Reebok’s website with the Classic Leather and BB 4000 II going for US$100 and the Pump Omni Zone II for US$180.
On the topic of V’Day colors, check out the Nike Air Jordan 1 High FlyEase “Bred”, not in any way related to the celebration of love, but it is a colorway beloved by many.
