COMME des GARÇONS Shirt’s Fall/Winter 2023 runway was an eye-catching affair, with playful color splashed across CdG’s typically monochromatic assemble. But beyond plays with pigments, part of the collection’s allure was the obvious collaborative pieces that strutted down the runway. Lacoste was the primary partner up top, with various shirts decorated with iterations of the French brand’s alligator motif.

But for us sneaker fiends, the true attention stealer was the CdG SHIRT x ASICS EX89 spotted ambling down the intimate catwalk. Two pairs were seen in a similar color—royal blue, spunky red and white—albeit in different color blocking styles.

One sees the deep blue act as its base while white dresses the laces and ASICS’ branding streaks on the lateral side, leaving the orange-red hue as accents on the lining and around the heel. The second pair utilises the reddish hues in similar fashion, but inverses the color blocking—white lands as the base while navy blue finds a home on the tongue tab and ASICS’ streaks. On both designs, co-branding makes an appearance on the usual tongue and insoles.
