Every 8 August henceforth, Nike Korea will be celebrating its own SNKRS Day. Although seasons away, they’ve already loaded the coal on the hype train of their country exclusives. Starting the locomotion with the Air Jordan 1 Low. But it won’t be the only one traveling to the celebration, the Cortez is on its way too.

Much like its contemporary in the pack, the Cortez comes dressed in an inconspicuous, neutral color palette. A quiet “Sail” hue washes over the leather base layer. From there, tonal suede overlays come upon the toe cap, moving along the eyestays before ending its journey on the heel counter.

Brown won’t be left out as it boldly claims its spot on the profile Swooshes, the tongue tag, and the heel tab. The last serving as the home of the magpie embossed, Korea’s national bird. Craftiness of its designer shines through the subtle Swoosh tattooed on its body.

The energy winds down as it moves towards the sole unit with a golden streak sliding across the midfoot as a final flourish. All the above, standing on the stage set by the serrated outsole underfoot.

A release date hasn’t been ascertained by Nike but it’s likely to be closer or on the 8 August festivities.

Like the high-flying magpie on the Cortez, check out the Nike Dunk Low “Superhero”.
