[Update 23 May 2023] Official images of the A-COLD-WALL* x Nike Air Max Plus, in celebration of the shoe model’s 25th Anniversary, are here. There’s two ACW* Air Max Plus—a “Platinum Tint” and a “Black”—as previously reported.
Both pairs of ACW* Air Max Plus trade regular mesh for premium leather for the construction of the upper, with the trademark Air Max Plus bands embossed across the leather body. Besides the standard ACW* x Nike co-branding on the tongue and heel area, Samuel Ross also extended the ACW* touch by creating the lateral and medial Swooshes by making cut-outs on the leather—brilliant!
While a release date has yet to be confirmed, with the appearance of these images, the A-COLD-WALL* x Nike Air Max Plus “Platinum Tint” and “Black” might arrive real soon. Keep your eyes peeled on this space!
A-COLD-WALL*’s ergonomic approach to design has been an appreciated aesthetic favored by techwear aficionados and streetwear enthusiasts alike, finding an audience even in the footwear subdivision of the sartorial scene. This presence was strengthened through special Air Force 1 collaborations with Nike and the crafting of all-new silhouettes under the Swoosh-adopted Converse. Each partnered effort saw a drop that combined user-conscious and sustainable materials with innovative design.
And according to Sole Retriever, Nike has enlisted the creative genius of Samuel Ross and ACW* to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Nike Air Max Plus — the nautical-inspired model best known for its striking exoskeleton and gradient colors. While descriptive features are still in the depths, style codes and vague colorways have surfaced.
This collaboration is expected to arrive as a two-pack collection in “Black”, which will likely fade into an iron grey gradient, and “Platinum Tint”, which we can expect to feature an achromatic spectrum. Both pairs will retail for US$210 each and are slated to land in the summer of 2023.
Regardless, we are sure that there will be signature ACW* technical touches to reach the collaborative drop, and are excited to see how the anniversary will be alluded to. While we wait for more information, why not check out this Nike Dunk Low “Setsubun” that finally has a release date?
