We are only midway into the first month of a brand new year but things are already heating up in the slide arena.

Crocs, big brother of foam clogs and one of the main perpetrators of the casual core trend, has had a stellar 2022. Salehe Bembury’s Pollex clogs may have taken the limelight but Crocs’ own inhouse creations have definitely opened up more future possibilities for the brand.

For 2023, it seems the footwear brand is all set to make a bigger dent in the sneakersphere—we’re talking hiking clog-sandals hybrid that utilizes Crocs’ signature EVA foam.

Enter the Crocs All-Terrain Atlas in all of its muted black glory. Molded entirely using the brand’s famed rubber foam, the Atlas features a ridged sole that extends from underfoot all the way to the toe and heel areas, and is topped off with buckle straps that’s reminscent of this hiking sandal.

According to Alexander Mayhew, senior footwear designer at Crocs who was the first to tease the upcoming rubber clog, the Atlas “celebrates the Colorado brand’s heritage with new design language based on topography of the Rocky Mountains”.

From the images previewed by Mayhew, it looks like the sole on the Atlas is slightly thicker than regular Crocs and its ridges point towards better traction. The adjustable strap across the forefoot may or may not come with a magnetic clasp closure but will definitely add to the overall stability.

So far, only a black colorway of the Crocs All-Terrain Atlas has been previewed with no release details, but we expect this hiking-ready sandal-clog hybrid to drop soon in the coming months. Keep your eyes peeled for the latest updates.

In other sneaker-related news, the Nike Dunk Low “Multi Swoosh” finally gets a release date.
