Australian-based Song for the Mute is best known for injecting streetwear essentials with avant-garde touches, elevating classics with voguish sensibilities. Part of this growing repertoire is the label’s partnership with adidas, which brought to the sporty-street community sleek performance wear and texturally complex Shadowturf sneakers.

And as Song for the Mute finally returns to Paris Fashion Week after 3 years, they are bringing along pairs of revamped adidas Originals shoes to accompany them for the long haul journey. Of course, the iconic-and-limited Shadowturf is back, but now in a rich burgundy-brown shade and overtly-frayed overlays. These textural and color implements lends a sophistication to the performance mesh underneath. The adiPrene+ sole rounds out in a similar cream coffee shade while the tongue tab contrasts the deep colors with an off-white branded tab.

Aside from the Shadowturf, it seems like Song for the Mute also managed to dip its inventive hands onto another Three Stripe silhouette, adding frays to the overlays for some textile fun. The lateral stripes are also playfully mismatched with black and red, giving the shoe a youthful injection despite the gum sole fitted to the shoe. A black adidas-branded tongue tab rests right above the Three Stripes.

Apparel seems to also be in the works, and we’re given a sneak peek of trackpants via Song for the Mute’s Instagram. In similar fashion, the pants has been fitted with a mix of ribbed panels and perforated nylon for added cool (both functionally and aesthetically).

It’s a collection that doesn’t fall short of its previous collaborations, and we expect closer looks to arise when Song for the Mute presents its 23.2 2000 Menswear and Womenswear collections down the Paris runway on 18 Jan. ‘Till then, look to the above gallery for more teased images provided by SFTM.

In other collaborations, Engineered Garments and Tarvas are paying homage to Japanese traditions.
