Whether you are dressing up or down, the versatility of this sneaker is best compared to that of a mood ring.

Although the New Balance 550 made its debut in 1989, it wasn’t until 2020 that it really came into its own. Over the past two years, the style has established itself as a mainstay in shoe rotations all over the world, gaining popularity among women. The Boston-based sportswear giant is treating us to a white and silver ensemble. And this versatile iteration has you covered for dressy or casual occasions, in jeans or a dress.

This pair has a straightforward appearance across its upper and sole unit, evoking the collaborations Teddy Santis has had with Aimé Leon Dore. The upper of the sneaker is made of perforated leather and mesh, with contrast grey elements appearing at the heel, near the collar, and on the profile “N” emblems. The contrasting tones are further indulged in by the branding on the tongue’s top and the spine. Underfoot, the color narrative remains the same while the worn-out traction appears in greyscale.

A firm release date hasn’t been disclosed by New Balance at the time of writing. Although there is no additional information available to confirm their debut date other than their US$120 price tag, they are rumored to occur this year. Have a peek at the official images in the interim.

Elsewhere in the realm of footwear, check out the Japanese-inspired Nike Air Max 1 “Shima Shima”.
