[Update 29 May 2023] Along with a bevy of new images of the Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Triple White”, a release date has also been scheduled—appropriately—for 24 August, Mamba Day. They’ll also be available in full-family sizing with adult pairs going for US$180.

The Kobe 8 is one of the most popular models in the Black Mamba’s entire signature line with Nike. Come next year, it will arrive in its Protro form. The pair has been seen on the NBA hardwood to this day on the feet of PJ Tucker and most prominently on All-Star Devin Booker. More colorways are expected to be released in 2023 but at the vanguard will be the titular “Triple White”.

An updated tech and construction will be integrated into its make but the spirit of the shoe will remain undisturbed. White engulfs the entirety of the mesh upper, complemented by the metallic silver Swoosh on its profiles. Other branding bears the same as seen on the Kobe signature on the lateral heel cage. In addition to the white midsole comes the blue crystal rubber outsole, embossed with Kobe’s logo on the forefoot.

There’s not much to discern given the singular image available. But considering that it will be a retrofitting of the pair, some differences can be expected on the final design.

There’s no release date aside from a loose fall 2023. It’s a long wait but knowing how rare and coveted the shoes have become, they will be worth it.
