The Air Jordan 1 Mid Craft “Inside Out” Returns With Earth Tones
"Inside Out" goes in again.
The Mids don’t get the same love from purists as its High and Low siblings. But for them to see a push from Jordan Brand, there must at least exist a sizable subset that do like them, or at least don’t mind them. The Air Jordan 1 has long transcended its performance pedigree, and in the ensuing decades, it has embraced its incarnation as a quintessential lifestyle sneaker. For now, the Mids belong on the feet of enthusiasts than ardent sneakerheads. A pair to complement the holistic outfit, more than a centerpiece.
Earlier this year saw the application of the crafty “Inside Out” motif on it. The series is an overhaul of the Jordan 1, introducing a variety of new materials and construction on the archetype. Its “Craft” namesake derived from the craftsman’s make of shoes from aeons past.
Arriving in an array of earth tones, ballistic mesh as seen on the mudguard and collar, serve as the base layer exposed through the various suede overlays. A smoother finish of the aforementioned can be seen on the toe box, through to the tongue, and quarter panels in off-white. Brown takes up most real estate dressing the mudguard, eyestays, collar, and heel counter. Lest we forget, the profile Swooshes. Completing the color palette are cream on the collar jacket and flaxen on the heel below.
Embellishments come in the form of the “2” and “3” stitching on the lateral Swoosh and the Jordan Wings embroidery on the heel counter panel. Last but not least, the brown outsole stands complementary to the shades of the upper.
