[Update 1 Dec 2022] New images of the AJ 3 “White Cement Reimagined” have surfaced, offering a more detailed and angular look at the pair. The pre-aged aesthetic more vivid, the cream midsoles and heel tab giving contrast to the leather makeup of the base layer of the upper. The photos are leaks but for such a big sneaker release, any would whet appetites.
The au corant will know how packed Jordan Brand’s release calendar is already for 2023. And they’re not holding any punches by this news surfacing. The Air Jordan 3 is one of the most iconic in all of the linear models, second perhaps only to the archetypal Jordan 1. It’s the first in the series designed by Tinker Hatfield. While it’s aesthetic appeal is well-founded, imbedded in the shoe is a piece of history, an epic narrative that makes it nonpareil.
It was His Airness’ weapon of choice during the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, which marked his second consecutive victory of the competition. On top of that, the coup d’etat of a dunk he took from the free throw line would result in an iconic photo etched in the zeitgeist.
Following the lead of the “Lost & Found” AJ 1, the Air Jordan 3 “White Cement Reimagined” will return in its OG ’88 specs, and likewise with a vintage/pre-aged appearance. To whom much is given, much is borrowed; and the silhouette’s signature elephant print has been integrated in many of its successors.
From the images shared by @jfgrails and @zsneakerheadz, the release will feature the “Nike Air” branding on the heels along with a special presentation. Only the powers that be knows what the shoe box and other regalia will look like, but such storytelling motifs is always a catalyst for mayhem.
They’re scheduled for release on 11 March on SNKRS with a RRP of US$210. Full-family sizing is purported to be made.
