In 2018, designer Nicole McLaughlin saw her hobby evolve into a career. Her artistry, her MO has always involved upcycling and sustainability, transforming distinct objects into an entirely other form. She’s turned used footballs into slippers, Gatorade bottles into chairs, iPhones into bralettes. Now, Reebok gives her a chance to apply her unique brand of creativity onto one of their latest women’s exclusive silhouettes: the Club C Geo Mid.

Her passion for the great outdoors has led her to the titular shoe, one in itself inspired by outdoor gear. Taking cues from 1996’s Etna Mid, she composites some of its hallmarks into her own contemporary design, as evident in the color palette, the small Vector logo on the lateral, and the black mudguard that traverses through the circumference of the pair.

Aesthetically, it borrows plenty. But as far as its construction goes, it’s modern. The base layer is of a ripstop nylon make, with a grey mesh material forming the tongue and the collar. Rounding off the elements is the applique around the collar that bears her name.

The collaborative pair is scheduled to drop on 5 December on StockX’s DropX platform with proceeds going to Sky High Farms. A wider release at Reebok is expected on the 9th.
