For many years to count, sports and sneakers have a deep relationship in regards to their origins. With world renowned brands like adidas and Nike, it is no doubt that many of their classic silhouettes are known to be debuted as a footwear for a specific sport.

As we celebrate the start of FIFA World Cup 2022, one of the biggest sports event that takes place once every four years, adidas Originals have partnerned up with Japanese football culture magazine SHUKYU and artist E-WAX for a collaborative release to commemorate the occasion.

Introducing the SHUKYU x E-WAX x adidas Originals Handball Spezial, this also marks the third installment for the TOKYO ENERGY series led by the three-stripes brand. Releasing in three colorways, respectively brown, black and indigo, the sneaker utilizes the classic handball silhouette as a base, combined with detailing drawn from the soccer shoes “Mundial Team”.

Featuring soft leather on the uppers, the sneaker is equipped with an elongated shoe tongue that can be folded, showing a handwritten art style text of ‘adidas’ by E-WAX which is also reflected on the insoles.

With a release date of 19th November, the SHUKYU x E-WAX x adidas Originals Handball Spezial collection is now available via adidas and selected retailers for 15,400 JPY (~US$110) a pair.
