Hairy suedes, fingerprint grooves.
[Update 12 Jul 2023] The Salehe Bembury x Moncler collection has pre-launched on 11 July via Moncler’s Paris Champs-Élysées store and website. Take a look at the latest images of the Trailgrip GTX and head over to Moncler’s website to cop your pair for US$795.
[Update 24 Feb 2023] Having revealed their collaborative roster for 2023, we are well notified that the Salehe Bembury is part of the Moncler’s latest project. Taking to Instagram, Bembury has now revealed behind the scenes shots of not only the collaborative footwear, but also an apparel collection.
From winter-geared items like mufflers to puffer jackets, wool hats and more, all items were seen dressed in signature elements of both parties with padded linings and prints formed by fingerprint-inspired detailings.
No exact details are confirmed for the full lineup yet, but we can definitely expect more updates to arrive in the near future. In the meantime, check out the latest images on the article slider above.
[Update 20 Jan 2023] A day after we got a detailed look at Salehe Bembury’s upcoming Moncler Tailgrip, the designer himself has given us yet another peek at what’s to come. Posting on his Instagram, Bembury showed off another colorway of the collaboration’s Tailgrip, which more closely resembled the one he was spotted in during his visit to the Los Angeles Lakers vs Indiana Pacers game last month. We get a closer look at the fingerprint-inspired grooves on the heel of the shoe, as well as a “MONCLER SALEHE BEMBURY” branding on the heel of the shoe. Stay tuned as we’ll bring you more updates and official photos of the upcoming collaboration as soon we get them!
[Update 19 Jan 2023] We finally get an up-close-and-personal look at the upcoming Salehe Bembury x Moncler Tailgrip, courtesy of the man himself at his “Wear Test Sample” Crocs Pollex Clog pop-up event a few days ago. While we’ve been able to snatch a few quick peeks when he wore it earlier last month, this is the first time a detailed look of the upcoming silhouette has surfaced. While a retail price has yet to been announced, the regular Moncler Tailgrip goes for US$750 at their stores, so we expect this collaboration to be somewhere around there or slightly more expensive. Stay tuned as we’ll bring you official imagery and further details as soon as we get them!
[Update 1 Dec 2022] While no release dates are confirmed for the Salehe Bembury x Moncler footwear collaboration, photos taken at the recent Los Angeles Lakers vs Indiana Pacers game shows Bembury wearing the mentioned sneaker. With a better overall look, a black spike tredded outsole that runs to the toecap is equipped on the bottom, adding a trekking-inspired aesthetic to the sneaker. Check out the slider images as we await for more future updates on the release.
Salehe Bembury is a name that has become progressively prominent in the footwear world, especially after his smashing success with Crocs. But the freelance designer’s portfolio doesn’t only include slip-ons — as he climbed the rungs through Payless Shoes, Cole Haan and Yeezy, he eventually found himself sitting in the clouds with Versace (who appointed him as the VP of footwear). And it seems like Bembury’s luxury portfolio will only be expanding, with Milan-headquartered Moncler the next fashion house to tap into his eclectic aesthetic.
Teased by the man himself on Instagram, his work with Moncler begins with a new sneaker design. Much is still hidden from the public eye, given that the picture only showcases a close-up of the tongue, which features embroidered co-branding. But beyond that, signature Bembury design elements can already be gleaned from this single image — orange ultra-hairy suedes that were found on his collaboration with New Balance and fingerprint-inspired grooves derived from his Pollex Clog. Thick rope laces criss-cross over the plush tongue lending extra texture to an already-saturated pair.
No official release dates have been unleashed by either brand, but we are sure that more information on this Salehe Bembury x Moncler sneaker will drop soon.
Moncler and Bembury are not the only ones collaborating this season. Two unlikely partners, Post Malone and Takashi Murakami, have also linked up for a t-shirt collection.
